Privacy
Hungreats is a small, invite-only app for finding food nearby. This page says what it keeps about you and why.
What we collect
- Your email address, from your access request and from Google sign-in, plus any note you add to the request, and when you first and last signed in and how many times.
- Your profile: the name you give, your age range, your home area (rounded to about 1 km), your look (light or dark), and the cuisines and dietary needs you pick.
- How you use the app, linked to your email: the features you use, what you search for, the restaurants you open and save (and the names of your saved lists), your approximate location (the city and coordinates rounded to about 10 km, or a city guessed from your network), and your device type, operating system, browser, language and time zone.
- Your saved spots, so they follow you to every device you sign in on: the Google place ID of each spot plus what you add yourself (list names, notes, “been there” marks and when you changed them). Names, photos and ratings are not stored; each device looks them up from Google.
- Group polls you start or vote in: the spots you vote for, kept under a one-way code made from your account rather than your email, and your first name, which the people in that poll see next to the votes.
- Friends you invite: their email address, marked as invited by you.
- Feedback you send, with what you choose to include in it.
Saved spots, recent searches and the group polls you open (their link, name and end date, so Home can remind you) are also kept in your browser so the app works on this device.
Why
To let approved people in, to open the app in your area, to show results that fit you, and to see which parts of Hungreats work so we can improve them. Only the Hungreats team can see this data. We don’t sell it or use it for ads.
Who else handles it
- Google sign-in confirms your Google account’s email when you sign in.
- Google Maps Platform receives your search and the area you search in, to find restaurants, details and photos. AI search sends your search text to Google’s Gemini API.
- OpenStreetMap (Nominatim) turns a place name or your coordinates into an area name, and draws the maps.
- Resend sends the welcome email to your address when your access is approved, with the first name of the member who invited you, if one did, and at most once a month a “we miss you” email if you haven’t used the app in a while. Every one of those has a link to stop them.
- Cloudflare carries the site’s traffic and tells us the approximate city of your network.
How long we keep it
In-app activity is deleted automatically after 180 days. Access requests that are never approved, and revoked access, are deleted after 180 days. Group polls are deleted a few days after voting closes. Your profile stays until you or we delete it, and so do your sign-in times.
See, change or delete your data
Signed in, open Your data to see your profile, change it, download everything we keep about you as a file, or delete it all. Deleting removes your profile, your sign-in times, your activity, your votes and name from group polls and your access request, and signs you out. Friends you invited keep their access.
For anything else, including feedback you sent, reply to the welcome email or get in touch through ejaquino.dev.
